Although this clip says this is 21 min. it is 7 minutes long (my error).
I did much of the filming for this back in 1995 when I was an independent documentary filmmaker and my biggest client was AT&T. I had been on the NYC stock exchange before and seen the Mercantile Exchange and the Chicago Market but I had never been there when the kind of energy that I saw on this day was happening. It was amazing. You can ask yourself why people worked there and of course the answer is money, but for many of those men, and they were almostly all men in those days, it was also excitement and a kind of a loud New York in-your-face community. I hope that this clip gives just a sense of that. I'm sure that many of my subscribers will say "this is crazy and I would never want to be there". But some of you, maybe the younger ones, might say "this is exciting" or "I could do this job".

Global 24/7 trading of stocks and bonds and futures was just an idea then and few really foresaw just how great the changes would be. How much the world was globalizing. How big a business this would be to the phone companies and very shortly, to the Internet companies.

When you get the chance, please watch my other 1990s stock market clips and if your resources allow, I would sure appreciate your using the THANKS button under any of my videos including the one you have commented on. It is something new that YouTube is beta testing and would mean a great deal for my continuing efforts.
