For Day 2 here in Ketchikan I started out by hiking the 1.3 mile RainBird Trail. It gave me a pleasant overlook of the downtown area from high above, which I always appreciate!

Btw…it rained a lot for Day 2, but I managed to survive, lol.

RainBird Trail took about 90 minutes and is located the University Parking Lot. You can park at the university free or charge.

Next I drove out of downtown Ketchikan almost for 7 miles and arrived at Totem Bight State Historical Park. Here for $5 entry which is only good for 1 hour, you get to walk along a pathway and view 14 totem poles. It’s a nice setting along the waterside area of the island. I was able to fit in just enough pictures and exploring before the rains really came!

Next I drove back in town and discovered a small, quiet movie theater. It’s called the Gross-Alaska Coliseum Theater. An old fashioned theater which although I don’t show in the Vlog, I needed to check out because of the all the rain.
I saw Mission Impossible, Dead Reckoning. It was almost a 3 hour movie but passed the time. Tom Cruise did his usual thing, lol.
My movie ticket was $8.75. A large popcorn and soda was $14 altogether.
Seating was comfortable and I enjoyed the movie experience.

Next I was hungry and walked over to the Alaska Crepe Company. Here they make homemade crepes and according to what I read, the “star of the show” is the Wild Sockeye Alaskan Salmon Crepe. I had to try it! Only thing….it was $23, and $25 after tax and then somehow I got roped into leaving a $5 tip! $30 total, OMG!!!
The crepe was delicious. The salmon was as fresh as could be. Only problem, which was a big one…the crepe was tiny!! I could have eaten 3 of them!!
So for $30, I got totally ripped off!! Just, it’s not worth it!! That was a disappointing moment and I hate for money to be a factor, but I would not recommend this place.

Next I stopped in at the Southeast Alaska Discovery Center. Here I paid $5 to head upstairs to the museum and watch an 18-minute film presentation about the Tongas National Forest which btw, is where Ketchikan is located amongst.
The film was informative and good for passing more time while it rained.

Then next, you won’t be seeing this, lol, but I took a nap in my car for 1 hour.
Then I was bored around 7pm and headed over to the Alaska Fish House.
According to research, this seafood establishment is the most popular restaurant in Ketchikan.
And since Ketchikan is known for their salmon, I stopped inside and had to try some here.

For here at the Alaska Fish House, I ordered the 3 piece salmon which came with french fries and a side coleslaw type salad.
After I ordered at the counter, I found my own table in the dining room area and waited for my food to be served to me.
Oh yes, the 3 Piece Salmon was $22. I got free water from the fountain tap. After $22, with tax and tip, I spent $28, which has just sort of become the norm for here in Ketchikan.
While waiting in the dining room, they had a live band playing music for a Saturday evening.
It was very crowded inside.
Finally after 10 - 15 minutes my 3 Piece Salmon was served. It was delicious!! The salmon was straight out of the fried and incredibly crispy! The french fries weee seasoned with “ole bay” and had great kick to em. The side little salad was really good too with some crisps dressed in an Italian dressing.
Overall, this Alaska Fish House gave way much more food than the Crepe Company. In fact. I was only s le go eat 2 of my 3 salmon pieces so I saved the last one for breakfast the following day, lol.
This was such a better experience. I now understand how this pace is the #1 restaurant in Ketchikan!
And the live band had some classic good tunes. I didn’t catch their name, but I stuck around for an extra 15 minutes to enjoy the setting.

Finally after 8pm I headed back to the main downtown section of Ketchikan. Now with the rain finally subsiding and cruise ship passengers nowhere to be found, I snapped some terrific perspective of the Welcome to Ketchikan Sign lit up at sunset.
This look at the sign was much better and more worthwhile than the prior days visit. I really liked the quiet atmosphere knowing how long and hard I had traveled to be here.
If by chance you are in Ketchikan not by cruise ship…I highly suggest exploring when it’s quiet either in early morning or early to late evening.

Overall, I’m glad I got the chance to eat at 2 Ketchikan seafood restaurants for my Day 2 visit.
Even with the rain being quite a nuisance, I still managed to do as much as I could before I returned to my ABNB room for the evening.

I will have 1 more Vlog, a Part 3 finale to the Ketchikan experience. It will come out shortly after this post.
Thanks for coming along for the highlights. I appreciate your support and catch ya for the next one!
