🔴 An air terminal is a device that is used to regulate the volume of conditioned primary air from the central air handling unit to the conditioned space
🔴Dampers may or may not be installed in air terminals
🔴Air terminals are located in the conditioned space
🔴In cold climates, perimeter floor outlets are generally preferred
🔴In hot climates, ceiling diffusers or high wall outlets that discharge air parallel to the ceiling are most suitable to use
🔴In moderate climates, outlet location is less critical
🔴They are generally installed near interior walls due to the following advantages
🔴smaller duct lengths (decreasing costs)
reduced thermal losses (if ducts are located outside the conditioned space)
reduced blower requirements
🔴The distance between supply registers and exhaust vents should be kept as large as possible to prevent supply air from being swept directly up by kitchen, bathroom, or other exhaust fans
🔴Location of exhaust vents: They are located near or at the ceiling level to collect the warm air, odours, smoke and fumes
