Destiny 2's Lore and Story tells us about Riven's Wish and how Crow is planning to use it to follow The Witness. His plan is to use the connection between himself and Mara to acts as a sort of guiding light for the rest of us. By using the Veil, we can follow Crow into the Pale Heart of The Traveller.
