Prototypes, otherwise known as LMP cars or Le Mans Prototypes, are the fastest variety of cars featured in international sportscar and endurance racing. However, with the introduction of new categories such as Hypercar, originating from the World Endurance Championship (WEC) and LMDh (or GTP as it will be known in the IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship), the hierarchy has become a bit more confusing. Furthermore, how do LMP2 and LMP3 cars factor into all of this? And what happened to LMP1? As a follow up video to the Ultimate Guide to GT Racing, here's your Ultimate Guide to Prototype Racing. This video will tell you everything you need to know about the fastest variety of cars that race at such events as the 24 Hours of Le Mans. I will also be joined by my good friend, Caitlin Penny Commentary.
