Within the central Andes is the world's largest magma chamber. It has been active for several million years, and has fed the eruptions of several young supervolcanoes. It has a volume of 500,000 cubic kilometers, and is slowly pushing the ground underlying a regional volcano upwards. So, why does this magma chamber exist? Is there any danger of an eventual eruption? This video will answer these two questions and discuss this fascinating feature.
