NEW BIKE DAY! I recently decided to go to the dark side and purchased my first E-bike. I bought the Giant Reign e+1 pro. This bike is amazing. I have been riding a 2018 Giant Reign for about 3 years. The decision to go "E", has been quite a long journey. The main reason, is that I want the ability to go farther and explore more trails. There are several trails in our local mountains that would be too difficult to climb for me. Once I have this bike dialed in, and feel 100% comfortable on it, I will take you along on some of those journeys.
As for this bike, it is just ridiculous. Those long sweaty, thigh cramping climbs are a thing of the past. In the first seven days, I have ridden over 125 miles. The type of workout it offers is a little different. My cardio workout is through the roof. My heart rate never gets below 120. At the same time, I am climbing trails at double, sometimes, triple the speed. The downhills are just as good. The Fox Performance suspension is really good. Both the 36 and the X2 are super plush. The drivetrain and brakes are Shimano, my favorite. The Maxxis tires are great as well. The only problem I am having is with the brake squeal. I am a big guy, on top of the 50 or so pounds of bike. I did my best to bed in the brakes. I am having a lot of noise, and some vibration through the front brake. I will follow up in my next review.
