In this episode we are delighted, honoured and humbled to welcome Ed O’Brien to the show. Ed is a founding member of Radiohead, one of the world’s most creative and genre defining – and defying – bands in recent history.
The show is predominantly an interview, covering the early days of Ed’s playing life, Radiohead’s inception and ethos as a band, all interwoven with Ed’s philosophy and approach as a musician. There’s a little bit of playing, not a huge amount – Ed is one of those players who eschews endless riffs, licks and showboating in favour of textures, tones and layers that serve the song. It’s very hard to do out of context!
Please enjoy this one – Dan and I are forever changed and moved from spending time with Ed, not to mention really looking forward to hearing his solo record in due course.
