Professor Davide Ravasi (UCL School of Management)

Abstract
The so-called Gioia methodology is a template for grounded theory that has been widely used (and misused), praised, and criticized. In this webinar, based on his experience, Davide Ravasi offers a practical, step-by-step illustration of how and when to apply this methodology, with a particular focus on data analysis. After a general discussion of risks and opportunities associated with the use of templates in qualitative research, he shares his experience in using the common visual displays associated with this method (data structure, data table, grounded model) to support data analysis and theorization. I also discusses common mistakes and misconceptions associated with this template.
