Okay, you've been charged with a criminal offense of some kind. If you're sitting there thinking, well, when do I get to tell my side of the story, and the police never questioned me about this. Let's get real for a second. If you have been charged already with a crime, do not say anything to anyone except your lawyer. Because and again, do not tell your side of the story to anyone, cops, friends, neighbors, Mom, no one, do not tell your side of the story to anyone except your criminal defense attorney. The reason for that is, I'm sure you all heard in the videos and movies and everything else, the Miranda rights thing, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. That even means if you're telling your side of the story, because what happened, we have another video where we talked about talking with the police. But what happens is people's memories change, people get flustered. And even if you're not guilty of anything, the police are trained to poke and prod and get you to say things in such a way that you can trip up and possibly give them more than they can charge you with. So when you're going through this kind of situation, and you want to tell your side of the story, the first person and only person you should tell your side of the story to is an exceptional criminal defense attorney. Now, after you tell your criminal defense attorney about this and tell them your side of the story, the criminal defense attorney will walk you through what our next steps will be. So if you come and you say, Okay, this is what happens, this person hurt me first I was protecting myself. I didn't start anything, they kept coming at me and I had to defend myself. Your attorney is going to walk through how we formulate a self defense strategy, what that means. Now, you may be in a place where you need to tell your side of the story at jury trial, that something that only you have the power to decide that your attorney can guide you and counsel you as to whether that's the right call. But when you're dealing with criminal charges in general, and you haven't been able to tell your side of the story is believed. Don't say anything, shut up lawyer up. Tell your criminal defense attorney no one else. If you are being charged and you have police contacting you, they say we just want to get your side of the story. Shut up and lawyer up. Do not talk to them. It will not help you. Even if they say it will help your case it will not they're trying to find evidence against you. As much as I appreciate what law enforcement does, and I appreciate the work that are trying to do my job is to defend my clients. And I've never ever ever seen it go well for someone to talk to the police and give their side of the story because everyone ultimately says one little thing off and then it can start this whole spiral. So when you're thinking I want to tell my side of the story great. Tell your criminal defense attorney your side of the story no one else
