Since last year, cranes are rolling up and down three garbage mountains in Delhi. These are digging into the old, decaying waste and processing it in big machines. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has a big task at hand of flattening the three dumpsites at Ghazipur, Bhalswa and Okhla by 2024. But the experts ThePrint spoke to are sceptical of the tight deadlines. It may take many more months, they say, to flatten the land on which the garbage mounts exist before the land can be reused for other purposes.
