In the fourth part of this six-part series on Stories from the River, host Charlie Malouf welcomes back guest Charlie Workmon, President and CEO of Riverstone Logistics, in a deeply insightful discussion about the transformative journey of Broad River Retail. In this episode, they cover a span from 2016 to 2020, a crucial period during which Charlie W led the turnaround in the Operational side of the business by focusing on the best practices from LEAN; became an owner in 2016; then joined Manny Rodrigues and Charlie Malouf in a management buyout in June 2018; and ultimately launched the Company's Purpose Statement (Furnishing Life's Best Memories) in pursuit of being a purpose-led organization.

The conversation delves into the broader theme of purpose within the corporate and personal realms, highlighted during the company’s Purpose Summit in 2019, Purpose 8:28. Charlie W discusses how these ideas of purpose guided the company through subsequent challenges and opportunities.

Reflecting on his five years with Broad River Retail, Charlie W cites his personal and professional growth that happened over those five years and says that there's no way that Riverstone Logistics exists today like it does without that growth. He recalls how much he loved the people and the partnership.
