The biggest vegetable is a source of entertainment for a farmer. It brings them pride and popularity along with nutrition. It's hard to believe that growing such a vegetable is possible but these farmers have proven that it can be done. From squash that weighs thousands of kilos to a carrot that could weigh as much as a small child, here is the list of the biggest vegetables on earth.
1. Heaviest Eggplant
The weightiest eggplant clocked 3.12 kilos. One Peter Glazebrook grew it for the CANNA UK National Giant Vegetables Championships. The competition was held in Worcestershire, UK, in 2021. Glazebrook, from Nottinghamshire, is one of the most accomplished growers of giant vegetables. Head judge Martyn Davis of the UK National Vegetable Society confirmed the weight.
2. Heaviest Marrow
Out of the many competitors for the biggest fruits and vegetables, this heavy marrow weighed 116.4 kg. Vincent Sjodin grew it for the same 2021 CANNA UK National Giant Vegetables Championships. The massive marrow measured 157 centimeters in length and 60 centimeters in width. It beat the previous record by 22.7 kg. Sjodin, from Barry Island in South Wales, attributed his success to the use of fish guts and heads in his compost. Creepy? Whatever it takes to win man.
3. World’s Largest Green Cabbage
A giant vegetable grower has his sights set on the record for the heaviest green cabbage. David Thomas from Cornwall already holds three world records for other giant vegetables. But the heaviest green cabbage has eluded him. It weighed 62.71 kilos and was presented at the Alaska State Fair by Scott A. Robb.

4. World’s Heaviest Carrot
According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the heaviest carrot record now stands at 22 pounds, 7 ounces. It was grown by Chris Qualley from Minnesota. That’s the weight of 60 normal carrots and heavier than a bowling ball. Ian Paton, the president of the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth, flagged Chris’s carrot record to the Guinness World Records. While the GPC does not monitor records for carrots, Ian Paton confirmed that the vegie was weighed using the same guidelines that as for other GPC vegetables. Also, Joe Atherton created the World Record for longest carrot, a gigantic 20 foot, 5.9 inches in 2016. That’s about the same height as a giraffe! Who needs that much vitamins? It was grown for the UK Giant Vegetable show in Malvern.
5. World’s Longest Cucumber
A 75-year-old Sikh from Derby grew the world’s largest vegetable. He said that praying to it daily helped the ribbed vegetable grow to the world-record size. Raghbir Singh Sanghera, who worked as a farmer in India before moving to the UK, grew the 129.54-centimeter cucumber in his greenhouse. At the time of this report, Sanghera, a priest at a local Gurdwara and keen gardener, mentioned the cucumber continued to grow in girth and length.
6. Heaviest Watermelon
Lloyd Bright grew this 268.9-pound watermelon, which broke the Guinness World Record. Bright’s giant watermelons are weighed annually at the Hope, Arkansas, watermelon festival. The event was held for the first time in 1925. It seems watermelon records are part of the Bright family business. In 1979, Lloyd and his father took home the same record with a 200-pound melon. They set a new record in 1985 with one that weighed 260 pounds. With this behemoth in your kitchen, you could make about 123 batches of tangy watermelon salad.
Lets get some major likes from all you melon lovers out there.
7. Tomato Plant
The most magical place on earth also boasts the largest cherry tomato plant. In 2006, Guinness also awarded this “Tomato Tree” the record for the largest harvest from a single plant when the year’s tally yielded 32,000 fruits. So it’s now a double-record holder. The tree hangs from trestles inside The Land at Epcot Center in Orlando, Florida. Guests can view it during boat rides around the Epcot Center pavilion. Harvested all at once, 32,000 tomatoes make about 1,151 pounds of tomato salsa, or 11,510 servings.
8. The hundred and sixty thousand-dollar-truffle
This unbelievable vegetable holds the title in the world record book. And the record breaker is Hong Kong businessman Gordon Wu who purchased it for a staggering 160,000 dollars. This white truffle doesn’t hold a world record for its size, but rather its price tag. The truffle was revealed in Italy in 2006 where Wu and his wife were taking part in a charity auction. Wu later served the 3-pound fungus as part of a five-course banquet in Hong Kong. Most white truffle recipes call for only a few ounces of the notoriously pricy food. So three pounds is quite a lot to dish out.
