This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser body-on-frame SUV. There is just one powertrain option for the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser, the i-Force Max Hybrid, a 2.4L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with a 48 horsepower electric motor. It has an 8-speed automatic transmission and a combined 326 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. It can tow 6,000 pounds.
The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser is smaller compared to the previous model, its 4.4” narrower and 1.2” shorter Toyota says, this will make this new model nimbler on the trails.
The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser is 193.7” long, its wheelbase 112.2” and its width with the mirrors is 84.2”, it offers a ground clearance of 8.7”. The 2024 GX is over 3” longer, but they have the same wheelbase.
The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser has a newly developed double wish-bone front suspension with tune-tubed shocks paired with a multi-link rear suspension with coil springs. It features electric power steering and 17” disc brakes front and rear. All Land Cruisers are equipped with multi-terrain select, downhill assist control, front tow/recovery hooks, a full-time four wheel drive system with centre locking differential and an electronically controlled two-speed transfer case with high/low range. The system also features vehicle stability control and an automatic limited slip differential.
The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser has an approach angle up to 31 degrees and max departure to 22 degrees while breakover angle reaches 25 degrees.
The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser will be offered in three trims, Land Cruiser 1958, Land Cruiser and First Edition. It will have 7 exterior colour choices and the First Edition model will have two new two-tone options, Trail Dust and Heritage Blue featuring a gray roof. 18” - 20” wheels are available.
Customize the Land Cruiser with over 100 accessories, more will come.
For the signature Land Cruiser look, the 1958 model will feature the iconic round LED headlights, LED fog lights and Toyota Heritage Grille. The Land Cruiser middle trim has slim rectangular headlights and a front stabilizer bar disconnect. The First Edition model adds a roof rack, rock rails, round LED headlamps, tailgate light, a back door guard and mud flaps.
The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser seats up to 5-passengers and features standard black cloth seats, available Softex and Leather. It has Toyota’s updated infotainment system which includes, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto. It comes standard with an 8” touchscreen, available 12.3” touchscreen. The base 1958 model comes with a wireless charger, manual cloth heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a 6-speaker sound system, push button start and a 2400 Watt AC inverter. The middle Land Cruiser trim adds Softex upholstery, power front seats which are heated and ventilated, the multi-terrain monitor, a 12.3” touchscreen and a 10-speaker sound system. A premium package can be added to the middle trim to get heated and ventilated leather trimmed seats in black or Java, a 14-speaker JBL sound system, a head-up display, digital rearview mirror and a moonroof. The top trim adds heated and ventilated leather trimmed seats and a First Edition logo on the door panels. Over the air software updates are available.
The Land Cruiser comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 and will be limited to 5,000 units in the first two months of production, it will be built in Japan.
Pricing and fuel economy will be announced closer to the on-sale date spring of 2024.
