Originally there was a hospital apart of this site, which has now sadly been converted into a housing Estate. The hospital was also known as the asylum for the mentally ill. It operated between 1886 and 1987.
The mortuary is still in its original state which was once used to process the bodies of female patients at the hospital. The hospital has two mortuary’s one for females and one for males. Eventually the males was closed and the woman’s was expanded to process both. The original males mortuary is empty and not accessible.
The mortuary hasn’t hardly changed since the hospital closed in 1987.
