Do you need an extra display through your Thunderbolt 3 or Thunderbolt 4 connection on your laptop? This is likely the cheapest solution for you over a laptop dock. It is a display adapter or display hub that works through your USB C Thunderbolt 3 or Thunderbolt 4 port.

I needed an additional monitor display and the Cable Matters USB Thunderbolt Display Hub is what I needed. It provides an HDMI, Displayport of VGA display, an additonal USB 2.0, an ethernet port, and a USB-C pass through charger port. You can only use one of the three display options on this specific model, but I still think it's pretty awesome for adding an extra monitor display to your laptop!

You can purchase it from Amazon Used - Like New for about $30 and new for about $50. I thought this was a pretty cool piece of tech for being only $30 since I bought the Used - Like New version. I haven't had any problems with it displaying and detecting on my monitor via the Displayport connection.
