This is a Motormouth couple car comparison of the Nissan Rogue and Mazda CX-5 compact crossover vehicles. The Nissan Rogue also has a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine matched with a CVT, it has 181 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque. FWD and AWD options are available. The Mazda CX-5 has a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission, 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. There is also a turbocharged 2.5L 4-cycliner engine with 227 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque on regular fuel. If you use premium fuel, you will boost your power to 250 horsepower & 320 lb-ft of torque.The Nissan Rogue has a more distinctive design than the outgoing model with a floating roof design and a V-motion grille. One nice feature the Rogue offers is extra wide rear doors to make it easier to get car seats in and out. The Rogue comes standard with LED headlights and taillights, heated outside mirrors, a temporary spare tire and 17 inch wheels. 18” and 19” wheels are available on the top two trims. A panoramic sunroof is standard on the middle trim and a motion activated liftgate on the top trim. The Platinum trim also comes with wireless Apple Carplay and wired Android Auto, a head up display, a wireless charger, driver seat memory, a power passenger seat, heated rear seats and a 10-speaker Bose sound system. The best value trim goes to the SV trim, it comes with an 8” touchscreen heated front cloth seats, a heated leather wrapped steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof and a power driver’s seat. There is a premium package for $2,200 CAD you can add to this trim to get the power lift-gate, leatherette seats and heated rear seats.The CX-5 comes standard with a 10.25” full colour display, Apple Carplay and Android Auto, cloth seats, heated front seats, 6-way manual driver’s seat and key-less entry. The best value trim goes to the GS trim, that’s where you’ll find leatherette trimmed upholstery, a power driver’s seat, a leather wrapped heated steering wheel and a power liftgate. You can add the comfort package to this trim to get the sunroof for $1,500 CAD. In the US, both the sunroof and power lifttgate are standard on the Carbon Edition trim or you can add the Touring package for $1,445 USD to get the sunroof. Standard features on the top two trims in Canada include, a 10-speaker Bose sound system, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats and a 10-way power drivers seat with lumbar support. Standard on the Top trim is Nappa leather trimmed seats and the Kuro trim gets a garnet red leather trimmed interior.
