Be sure to pick 720p for best picture and sound.

This is a short clip from Ralph Bakshi's 1978 Lord of the Rings, using two rare tracks from Led Zeppelin to score it. Not a perfect fit - the music - of course. This is test footage to see what it might have looked like.

Background: Ralph Bakshi commissioned Led Zeppelin to score his 1978 film, but Zeppelin's record company would not let them work outside of their contract, as the score would be released on another record label. That being the case, Bakshi got another composer (Leonard Rosenman), much to his and Led Zeppelin's regret.

The first musical piece in this video is an unreleased and unnamed demo from about 1970 featuring Jimmy Page on guitar - and possibly John Paul Jones - which I cleaned up and EQed, etc.

The second piece is part of the cello bow solo from Dazed and Confused from Led Zeppelin's April 1st 1971 show at the Paris Theatre in London, England. It is available on The Complete BBC Sessions.

This is mere test footage, and is in NO WAY intended to infringe on the fine work of Bakshi or Led Zeppelin. Nor is it intended as a snub to Leonard Rosenman's fine score.
