After having surgery for colon cancer at Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus, Carol Murray received positive targeted therapy to treat her stage 4 lung cancer diagnosis. Because Carol carries the Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) mutation, she was able to avoid chemotherapy, opting instead for a pill known as a Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitor (TKI) that directly targets the cancer.
