HIKING HIGHLIGHTS IN WINTER
Potash Mountain is a moderate 3.8-mile roundtrip hike located in Lake Luzerne, NY. It has plenty of narrow switchbacks, steep ledges, and, in January, slippery boulders, so watch your footing along the way. A solid bridge and rock steps help prevent erosion (Thank you, Steve Mackey). The trail bounces between the donated Harris Preserve and the state-owned bald southwestern-facing summit. Bonus points: The large gravel parking lot at the base with a covered picnic area and clean portapotty! If only all mountains could be so accommodating!
Thank you, Nola Royce, for leading this hike!
