In 2010, a driving range of 170-kilometres was considered normal. The low number quickly gave rise to a phrase — range anxiety. Then came the next-generation EV like the Chevy Bolt. It quickly dispensed with said phrase by delivering a more realistic 350-400-km of driving range, and that’s still very much the norm today.
Mercedes-Benz has, at least at the conceptual stage, produced a car that is about to shatter current expectations. The Vision EQXX has a claimed driving range of 1,000-km! To achieve this requires more than just a few minor tweaks, it took a wholesale rethink.
