When this program aired on April 15, 1962, it had been some time since Walt Disney had taken his viewers to Disneyland. Even so, he knew there had to be something special to warrant an entire hour in the Park. Walt and his television team came up with a double barreled idea - show off the Park at night and invite celebrity guest stars to entertain. Thus, "Disneyland After Dark" is not only an enjoyable look at the Park as it's lit by night, but a wonderful collection of performances.

"Disneyland After Dark" features celebrities such as Louis Armstrong, who was already a national treasure and is joined here by two other Jazz pioneers, Kid Ory and Johnny St. Cyr. The Osmond Brothers were new on the scene and this marked their television debut. Bobby Rydell was a popular teen idol back then. And Walt never missed an opportunity to spotlight his talented Mouseketeers, in this case Bobby Burgess and, of course, Annette Funicello.

In fact, "Disneyland After Dark" had enough marquee value to be released in theaters overseas.

And now friends, please enjoy this episode of Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color from 1962 titled "Disneyland After Dark" in spectacular HD compliments of DisneyAvenue.com.
