Flying past Mount Garibaldi (Nch'ḵay̓) under a paraglider is a very special experience. It doesn't happen often. Landing on it, however, has all the attributes one needs to call it a local dream come true. It towers 2600m+ over the often windy town of Squamish, flying to it from the north or south takes commitment, it can only happen safely on an exceptional day and.... it's a volcano.

James, Shaun, Jason and I launched from Ipsoot Mountain hoping to fly early and far. Morning north wind continued into midday and made for a later launch than we'd hoped. We then simply flew south with nothing specific in mind. James went to Whistler, Shaun, Jason and I continued south. Once at Black Tusk, solid climbs and lifty glides made continuing south a natural move. High over Brohm Ridge, Shaun set his sights on flying home to Valleycliffe. Jason and I set our sights on toplanding our local volcano.

Fly the day.
