In this video we'll be going on a spring morning trip to Crema, a lovely small city in northern Italy!
It's located in the middle of the Po Valley, the biggest plain of the italian peninsula, and is surrounded by fields and farms as far as the eye can see.
The old town has lots of historic buildings, many of which were built during the Renaissance. The 16th century in particular saw Crema expand quite a bit and taking the shape that we still see today.
Although small the city has a very high number of churches, 33 in total, including a very scenic cathedral that stands right in the middle of the old town.
Walking around the city center on a warm spring day is incredibly relaxing, and the chirping of the sparrows flying overhead adds a lot to the charm of this place!
What are we waiting for? Let's check it out!

P.s. about what I was saying at 13:38 .
You might be asking yourself why such a big sanctuary was built there.
The story is quite interesting, albeit rather dark and violent:
back in 1489 a woman from a wealthy family of the area married a man that had moved in from Bergamo, another nearby city.
The man kept quiet about his past: in fact he was exhiled from there, due to crimes he had commited.
The marriage had a rough start, and in 1490 he persuaded the wife (either that or threatened her) to move with him back to Bergamo.
After having just left the city, on the location where the sanctuary was later built, he tried to murder her with a sword and escaped with all of the valuables.
(All of this was reported in historic documents, while from here on the story takes a religious turn, which you might believe or not depending on your own beliefs.)
While bleeding out she called the Virgin Mary for help and a woman appeared, saying that she was the one who had been called.
The bleeding suddenly stopped and the wounded woman was brought to a near farmhouse where she could receive help.
The day after, when the doors of the city reopened, she was brought to the doctor and later the priest, which gave her the last rites.
At that point the bleeding started again and she passed away.
A month later, on the place of the supposed apparition, people would get miraculously healed from their sicknesses, with over 100 cases reported in 2 days.
The following day the city commissioned for a sanctuary to be built there, which is what can be seen today.
Quite interesting, right?
