Gigafactory Texas on 23 August 2021! This is where the Cyber Truck and Model Y will be built!

Busy start to the week! 13 months since construction began and less than 2 months before initial Model Y production may start! Lots of details that add up to a finished production site today, such as closing in exterior walls, cleaning parking area pavement, road construction on the north, west and south sides, equipment deliveries inside the main facility, and more this morning!

In this video, we look back 13 months to see how some of the areas have changed since the start of construction in July 2020 and see just how much work has already been accomplished. We are now about 2 months (or less) from the first likely start of initial Model Y production, which is also amazing to think about when considering what this area looked like 13 months ago!

Here are the highlights from today's video:
- Many more wall panels have been and are in to process of being installed on the east side of the Body-in-White structure … all but one section of the exterior walls is now complete on the east side!
- The North end of the Battery Cell structure is getting more walls installed and there are now two triangular areas that appear to be how the windows lines terminate. A lot of interior work is apparent as well, plus about 90% of the roof has the final weatherproofing materials installed. Most of the roof work that remains is around the HVAC cooling vents in the NW corner.
- More wall panels are also being installed on the west side of the General Assembly structure. The parking spaces and loading dock driveways have been power washed this morning, clearing away a lot of the mud and dust from construction and giving it a brand-new appearance. There is one final section needing paving on the SW corner, and this looks to be in prep for paving later today or perhaps tomorrow to finish this side of the structure. The south side shows the floor decking is completely installed on the 3rd floor, with more areas underway.
- Space frame/truss structure work continues just north of the paint shop, but I noticed more of the same types of space frames were being assembled on the east side. This does not seem conducive to moving them back over to the main structure, so I think these have a different purpose. I am thinking these may be part of a covered roadway or perhaps for controlled entrances and not part of the main structure at all.
- We see work on and under the casting machine roof, along with more castings and slab work. I would expect another large slab area to be constructed under the roof soon, along with some of the joining structure being erected between the paint shop and the casting structure as well.
- There are more steel columns and other structural elements assembly getting started in the north “alley” this morning, and they are just one section away from the north end!
- In the central area, more work on the steel structure (adding floor and roof decking) as well as
Work in the big pit installing more of the deep piers on the north end while on the south end there is more excavation work. We also see more plumbing being installed on the west side of the big pit, running parallel and to the south.
- Earthwork has resumed on the east side battery cathode plant area, so perhaps foundation work will begin again here soon.
