MIDI Basics Part 1
MIDI does not have to be complicated and understanding a few basic concepts can open up a whole world of possibilities. The Strymon Timeline is such a popular pedal with great MIDI capabilities so we thought we'd take you through a few concepts to help you understand and get more from your MIDI controlled pedals

Program Change Messages
A PCM or Program Change Message is a MIDI message that says to the pedal, 'I want to recall a sound that is saved in a specific location.'

MIDI Channel
To point the MIDI PCM in the right direction, we need to assign each pedal a MIDI channel. Once the pedal has a MISDI channel assigned it only looks at the information sent on that channel.
