Roseola Infantum (Sixth Disease) | Symptoms (Fever & Rash in Infants), Diagnosis, Treatment

Roseola Infantum (also known as Exanthem Subitum and Sixth Disease) is a very common viral infection in young infants that causes a characteristic high fever and a sudden onset of a skin rash. It is caused by an infection with human herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6). In this lesson, we discuss the pathophysiology, the signs and symptoms, how it’s diagnosed and how it’s treated.
