A tremendous value, there’s only one detail holding the 2020 Acura RDX back from being best in class.

Few cars luxury compact crossovers offer more luxury than the 2020 Acura RDX. A strong, 272-horsepower turbocharged 4-cylinder and a flawless 10-speed automatic transmission make it a joy to drive on both highways and backroads. Its sharp looks and upscale interior make it a joy to park in your driveway. And with a starting price of $37,600, the base trim is an unbeatable deal.

But Acura’s insistence on the True Touchpad Interface makes dealing with the RDX’s infotainment system a chore. Similar in function to the Remote Touch trackpad found in Lexus vehicles, the RDX trades a simple touchscreen for a high-tech control device. While it’s clever in theory, mapping 1-to-1 to the infotainment screen, George found it frustrating to use.

On the bright side, the RDX is downright spacious for a compact crossover. Nearly 30 cubic feet of cargo space expands to 58.9 total cubes when the rear seat is folded. There’s also a hidden storage compartment under the trunk floor. Add in advanced safety tech, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and plenty of cupholder and USB ports, and the RDX is a great choice for small families shopping for a luxury car.
