Burl and Barrel is owned and operated by Evan and Jessica Boyle. Evan creates one of a kind, exquisite, hand crafted pieces, while Jessica works with the customers meeting and exceeding their every need.

Evan's passion for woodworking started at a young age through time spent tinkering with his Grandfather. What began as weekends making Adirondack chairs, and bird houses, grew in to an obsession with craftsmanship, and fine woodworking.

In college while attending the United States Naval Academy, Evan found another love...surfboards. Evan was introduced to surfing by one of his best friends, and together they made a mess out of garages shaping foam whenever they could. After majoring in Naval Architecture the shaping and board building became an addiction, and he couldn't wait to see how different shapes were reacting and performing in the water. Upon graduating and receiving a commission as a Naval Aviator he was able to hone his shaping skills while stationed in Hawaii.

After 10 years of service , and several deployments overseas in the United States Navy, Evan decided to leave in pursuit of bringing his love of surf craft and woodworking to others, and opening Burl and Barrel.

After leaving the military, Evan was formally trained at the Center for Furniture Design and Craftsmanship in Maine, which is widely regarded as the premier woodworking school in North America. There he focused on traditionally built, solid wood furniture. In a short time, Evan has already become an award winning and published furniture maker.

While Evan is creating unique, one of a kind furniture and surfboards, his wife Jessica is interacting with each and every customer. She has had years of customer service and sales experience in fortune 100 companies, and small businesses, including Restoration Hardware. She brings her knowledge of unique high end furniture to every customer and makes sure that they leave delighted with the products and service they received.
