I take a 2020 Porsche Taycan to an Electrify America DC Fast charger to record the charging session. I arrived with the battery state of charge at 5% and charged it up to 90% while recording the entire session.

The Taycan can accept up to 270 kW from a DC fast charger that can deliver that much power. However, in order to take in the full 270 kW, the Taycan's battery needs to be at the optimum temperature of at least 88 degrees (31C).

Since it is in the middle of the winter here in New Jersey, I wanted to see how fast the Taycan 4S would charge when the battery wasn't at the perfect temperature because that's what many owners will likely experience when driving in cold weather areas.

The Taycan can preheat the battery to make sure you can charge at high rates, but the only way to do that is to set your destination in the navigations system to be the DC fast-charge station - AND the vehicle needs to recognize that the destination is indeed a DC fast charge.

Many Taycan owners will forget to do that, or they may not plan to stop until they realize they need to, so we can't assume everyone will utilize the battery preheating function all of the time.
