What you need to do for your landscape in the month of August in the High Plains and Rocky Mountain regions.

To Do List:
1st- ENJOY YOUR SUMMER!
1:06- Take Pictures of your landscape and gardens
1:16- Vegetable gardens: Observe plants that are doing well and producing. Pull Weeds and plants that will not produce or fruit. You can still plant some veggies like lettuce, spinach, kale, peas, or other quick-to-harvest veggies. You can use a 5-10-5 fertilizer to give them a boost.Mulch around tomatoes to prevent rot and keeps pests away. For Squash or Pumpkins, slide a tile or board under the produce to prevent rot.
2:14- Cut some herbs or flowers for drying.
2:31- Adjust your sprinklers for the needs of you lawn or landscape. You can use the "seasonal adjust" option on the controller/ clock to water more or less.
3:05- Ease up on the use of fertilizer
3:19- Mowing to a height of 2.5 to 3 inches will help with moisture retention this time of year. Also, August is a good time to over-seed and patch bare spots in your lawn.
3:41- Flowers can be dead headed and thinned out of anything that is diseased, or dying. Take a garden walk through your landscape and take note of what is working and what is not.
4:00- Keep pulling those weeds!
4:11- Irises can be divided and/ or transplanted now.
4:29- Be ruthless and remove the plants and/ or veggies that are not doing well or producing.
5:14- Bees! Give those pollinators some love!
