What I have here, are the first TCL NXTPAPER phones: The 40 NXTPAPER and the 40 NXTPAPER 5G. Both are using the same eye-friendly-optimized LCD display technology we’ve already seen in the NXTPAPER tablets. More on that in a second.

If you’re a regular viewer of my channel you might remember, that the very first video here was about the TCL NXTPAPER 10s, which promised nothing less than having the next generation of digital paper displays.

I won’t lie, I was a little disappointed, that they didn’t use a reflective LCD for that one, because that’s what TCL initially announced with that NXTPAPER brand.

BUT, over time I grew to love the NXTPAPER 10s and I’ve been basically using it as my Go-To LCD tablet ever since the review. And I’ll explain why when I talk about the displays of these phones.
