New posters for Black Widow tease Natasha Romanoff's mysterious past. Scarlett Johansson has spent the last decade playing Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She's turned the super-spy into a fan-favorite character, but Marvel Studios waited until after Natasha's death in Avengers: Endgame to give her a solo movie. Fans pushed for a Black Widow film ever since she debuted in Iron Man 2, and wait for it only became longer due to COVID-19 delays.

Scarlett Johansson has been in seven MCU movies already, but Black Widow is the first time that Natasha is the central character. The movie is a prequel set between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. It will explore what happened to Natasha after she broke the Sokovia Accords and before she joined Captain America's Secret Avengers squad. This will bring new characters like Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Red Guardian (David Harbour), and Taskmaster to the MCU, which could allow Black Widow to set up multiple aspects of the MCU's future despite its prequel setting. However, the core of the movie will be exploring Natasha's past like never before.
