On April 20, 2018 , Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie came to City University of London to speak to the students of the English department, City, University of London.
Chaired by Dr Louisa Egbunike, a lecturer at the English department, the event took the form of an interview style conversation followed by an audience Q&A. The event was introduced by the Head of the department , Dr Patricia Moran.
City, University of London is one of the partners of the Igbo Conference.
The Igbo conference theme for 2018 was Memory, Culture and Community : Remembering the Past, Imagining the future.

The 2018 Igbo conference provided a platform to discuss Igbo heritage studies and modes of documenting the past including how Igbo people can start documenting their own personal histories and archives.
The ‘Memory, Culture and Community’ conference is the seventh edition of the annual international Igbo Conference, which has taken place at SOAS, University of London since its beginnings in 2012.
