This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Dr. Nicholas Kardaras is the Executive Director of the world-renowned rehabilitation facility the Dunes in East Hampton, NY. Having lived a colorful life (he’s an AAU National Karate champion, a recovering NYC nightclub owner and a coma survivor), he’s also an internationally recognized addictions expert and lifelong seeker who has explored many of the world’s wisdom traditions.

In his talk, Nick shares his personal story of coming back from the dead - literally - and discusses the connection between addiction and lack of purpose. Searching for meaning in today’s virtual and disconnected world, Nick calls for low-tech solutions to a high-tech problem

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
