In this episode I provide the history of the Lincoln Mark series, which began in 1956 with the Continental Mark II, to compete directly with Cadillac for the most luxurious American 2-door coupe. Later generations had the Mark number incremented throughout the 70's, 80's, and 90's, culminating in the final series, Mark 8, ending in 1998, when the market for large luxury coupes started to wane. Lincoln also tried to sell a pickup as the Mark LT from 2006-2008, and also started naming all their cars starting with 'MK' to emulate the Mark name beginning in 2007. Today Lincoln only sells SUV's and has reverted back to using actual car names instead of alphanumeric names like their competitors.
