Background: In 2008 an ex-news cameraman took a break from writing novels about the last of the good angels hiding out in Switzerland's Lausanne Cathedral (https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/se.... He packed a few small video cameras and traveled alone to a combat outpost in Iraq. He was against the war and he was a liberal. He had also worked on front lines all over the world where he watched tens of thousands of people suffer and die in his camera lens. His 2003 critically acclaimed autobiography "War Junkie" (https://www.amazon.com/War-Junkie-Add...) was like a roller coaster ride through hell. But he wasn't going back to war for the buzz of the bang-bang. He had enough of that in his life. This time - after reading about the numbers of suicides among American veterans who had served in Iraq War II - he wanted to talk to US Soldiers about their thoughts, emotions and feelings. Along the way he came to terms with a few of his own.
