The Sanlorenzo SL90 A (Asymmetric) delivers superyacht levels of customisation on a sub-30m footprint. Many shipyards talk of customisation but when you buy an SL90 you start with a blank sheet of paper and personalise the boat to exacting standards.

Could this be the best 90ft design on the market? By arranging the port passageway on the upper deck, the designers have pushed the saloon right out to the beam on the port side and created, according to Sanlorenzo, 10-15% more space in this area.

The arrangement is very flexible but the boat on show at Boot Düsseldorf has an owner’s suite on the main deck, forward, with direct access to the terrace on the foredeck and three further guest cabins on the lower deck. There is space for four crew in a well-designed crew area, which has two cabins, two bathrooms and a mess.

The genius of the design is that you never really notice that the decks are asymmetric and the way the foredeck is connected to the expansive flybridge by the raised port side deck works brilliantly.

The boat is powered by twin V12 2,000hp MAN engines for a top speed of nearly 30 knots (not bad for a yacht of 100 tonnes) but will cover nearly 1,000nm at displacement speed.

Is the Sanlorenzo SL90 A the best yacht in this sector? Let us know in the comments.
