Major Similarities Between Disney's Cruella 2021 And The Original 101 Dalmatian Movie!
The 2021 version of Cruella is here - and we are loving seeing the differences and similarities between this iteration and every other time we’ve seen the 101 Dalmatians story come to life. In this video, we’re taking a look at all the different Cruella’s, from Betty Lou Gerson in the original animated version from 1961, to Glenn Close’s epic take on the role in the 1996 live-action and of course, Emma Stone’s version of the supervillain and her other self, Estella. We’ve always known Cruella to be a dog hater, the 2021 live-action offers us a different perspective as Cruella seems to be anything BUT a dog hater! What we do get to see in each version is the classic Dalmatian-napping!
The darling’s are back - and this time Anita’s last name is ACTUALLY “Darling”. Anita and Roger still hear the usual beckons from Cruella, but Anita is more of a friend and we get to see a much deeper relationship between the two - from their first meeting as children to their collaboration as Estella becomes Cruella. As for Roger, he and Cruella have as rough a relationship as ever - so much so that Roger begins composing Cruella songs already.
Jasper and Horace play a much more important role in the 2021 version than before - especially since we see their dynamic with Cruella was quite different from the get go. Instead of the usual boss and her henchmen relationship, we get three friends so close that they’ve become family.
While the 2021 live-action tells a brand new, standalone story, we’re glad we still get references to classic moments we’ve known before.
