The United States largest ever community Iftar dinner was held on April 2, 2023, at the Houston’s Bayou City Event Center and had over 2,500 guests.
The Abu Dhabi, Baku, Basrah, Istanbul & Karachi Sister City Associations, along with The Islamic Society of Greater Houston, Ismaili Council, Dawoodi Bohra Jamat, and more than 65 collaborating organizations hosted the 24th Annual Ramadan Dinner with the Mayor of Houston, also known as Houston Iftar 2023.
Mayor Sylvester Turner delivered the keynote address and was honored by the organizing committee and guests.
Several elected officials, over 20 Consul Generals, and media were also recognized. Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, Congressman Al Green, and guest speakers Shaykh Dr. Waleed Basyouni and Dr. Saleha Khumawala were among those who spoke.
The event was broadcasted live throughout North America via TV ONE USA, NTV America, and the City of Houston HTV.
