To avoid waste, we intentionally milled these 2 inch thick "left over *flitches" from the opening faces of many 11' & 12' long logs on a job that needed 12" wide x 3" thick pieces. These left overs are being milled into 2" x 3" x 60" *dunnage for another custom order and shorter lengths will be stored for sale or used as shipping skids.
*Jargon vocabulary: A "flitch" is a board with bark on the edges. Dunnage is lumber used for blocking, shipping, etc.
FYI: A 2" x 12" x 144" piece of White Oak weighs approximately 155 pounds.
