All-new 2024 Volkswagen ID. Buzz GTX - Best Performance Sports Van
The classic-inspired Volkswagen ID Buzz now boasts a GTX variant, featuring a dual-motor powertrain and a sporty exterior makeover. Expected to hit the market in the latter half of 2024, the ID Buzz GTX joins Volkswagen's lineup of performance-oriented EVs, following the recent launches of the ID 3 GTX and ID 7 GTX Tourer. Available in both standard and long-wheelbase versions, this new addition is touted by Volkswagen as "the most powerful Bulli of all time", packing a punch with its 335bhp dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setup, a significant upgrade from the standard model's 201bhp.

The dual-motor Buzz also sees a significant boost in torque, boasting an impressive 413lb ft, rivaling the Volkswagen Touareg R. This translates to a swift 0-62mph acceleration in just 6.6 seconds. With this enhanced power, Volkswagen has upped the ID Buzz's towing capacity from 1000kg to 1800kg.

Moreover, there's been an uptick in battery capacity, now at 79kWh for the standard version and even larger at 86kWh for the long-wheelbase model. While the official range is yet to be unveiled, estimates suggest the GTX could achieve around 240-250 miles on a single charge.

Charging capabilities have also seen improvements. The standard car can now be charged at up to 185kW, providing a 10-80% boost in just 25 minutes. For the larger 86kWh pack, a peak charge rate of 200kW enables a sub-30-minute charge from 10-80%.

In terms of appearance, the ID Buzz GTX receives subtle yet impactful changes for a sportier aesthetic while preserving its retro charm. These include the GTX-style front bumper design featuring 'arrowhead' LED daytime-running lights, a honeycomb grille, and black gloss trim. Standard 19-inch wheels are included, with the option for 21-inch wheels for those seeking a more distinctive look.

The interior of the Buzz GTX showcases 'comfort' seats adorned with red stitching and GTX lettering, providing both style and support. It also boasts the same 12.9-inch touchscreen found in the ID 3 GTX, running Volkswagen's latest and significantly enhanced software.

For the long-wheelbase variant, Volkswagen offers the option of its new electronically controlled panoramic roof, setting a new standard as the largest sunroof ever installed in a Volkswagen vehicle.

Order books for the ID Buzz GTX will open this summer, with the new MPV set to cost from around £70,000.
