How Will Denis Villeneuve Adapt Dune For The Big Screen?

By now you have all seen the awesome trailer doing the rounds for Director Denis Villeneuve’s movie adaptation of the classic sci-fi epic penned by Frank Herbert, Dune, and if you are like us, your jaws are basically glued to the floor. While not too many details were revealed, we did get some tasty tidbits in the trailer, which housed some stunning visuals, authentic images of the book, a star studded cast and Jason Momoa’s glorious hair! It is hard not to get excited for this movie, especially for fans of the book. But that might just be the issue. The book is an absolute behemoth, loved by many and notoriously difficult to adapt to the big screen with it giving a number of directors and studio execs a massive headache. The book is rich with backstory and lore as well as it being a great technical and visual challenge. But, Villeneuve certainly has a great track record, especially when it comes to big budget sci-fi movies, but can he make magic happen again here?

In this video we will look back through the trailer and all the news surrounding the movie to see whether it can actually live up to its novel predecessor. Assessing the world of Dune, it’s controversial plot lines and of course giant sandworms- we will put on our stillsuits and get ready to trek through the stark desert lands of Arrakis, better known as Dune.
