MacOS Monterey and all Apple MacBook's operating system upgrades continue to remain free for users who own an Apple Macbook, Mac mini, iMac, or Mac Pro. Although, in past Apple used to charge $129 for MacOS Puma, Tiger, Panther, etc. They dropped the price to $29 with MacOS Snow Leopard, but since 2013, with MacOS Maverick, Apple has stopped charging customers for any updates to the Mac operating system.

How is Apple managing to give such a sophisticated and advanced operating system like MacOS Monterey for absolutely free to customers? They add the margin of MacOS while selling MacBooks and MacPros hardware. But beyond then, that Apple has many other reasons to ensure Mac users are on their latest softwares and upgrade frequently.
