Zwift Racing League Race #3 Team Time Trial Watopia Waistband

Chat quite a bit about play action and making "audibles" in the formation and execution on the field of play in a Zwift Team Time Trial. Also knowing how each section of course flows into each other along with what team resources to use and when is absolutely key for the most speed thru each one of those sections.

Fuego into Ocean Blvd. via the Sequoias cutoff is a prime example of road that if mapped out correctly per the talents on the team and timings of ridings positioning, can give rest to those who need it while gaining time on the climb but also free speed on the downhill with those best suited rolling momentum thru to the front pushing forward freely while single file dominoes follow thru as the front continually scrubs speed into the head win and allows the next domino thru with little effort.

If a rider just stays on the front because of "their turn" on a rigid timer, all the free momentum is lost to scrubbing speed and braking in the line. One of the only times where there is little extra effort to hit the front and gain speed for the team without wasting precious energy.

Here Mogg is our lightest rider and takes over at the bottom of climb out of Fuego, we all get up to speed over top and keep formation, but as I gain rest and momentum I agree to pull that momentum thru into the flat holding 58-60 KPH rather than the usual 50-55 kph if a single rider just rode the front all the way to the bottom into the flat fighting the headwind. instead my momentum comes thru and carries the whole pack into the free break of the wind I get from rolling thru a draft at top speed and hold hard at that speed for a duration of my pulll. It was absolutely key for everyone to experience this speed, without much cost to them, for them all to be ready for the grab of my wheel as I rolled the speed thru to the front and held it.

Caleb then also calls an audible being a heavier riders and feeling his speed coming to the front and takes over for us into the next Downhill and the sequence continues with calls at perfect timings to not let the speed scrub till we level out and fighting the headwind at those speeds no longer has any benefit with pushing up momentum. At this point we all realize no more audible calls for momentum and rest our 1 min pulls.
