Welcome to the Range Rover P440e hybrid. This car is powered by a 3.0litre 6-cylinder petrol engine supported by a 38.2kWh battery powering a 141hp electric motor. Combined power is 440hp channelled through an 8-speed auto transmission.

Although the changes to the body are subtle for this latest iteration one of the biggest differences is the new vertical rear lights which endows this car with an elegance the old model could only dream of and the smooth lines are reflected at the front with great build quality. The split rear tailgate opens at the bottom to create a seat which can be useful when at events.

The RR P440e has an ‘EV’ button in the centre console giving you the option of Hybrid and EV modes. If you select EV mode you can travel in almost total silence for up to a promised 69 miles. However I found a range of 55 total was nearer the mark in everyday driving but longer might well be possible if your right foot is used judiciously

The 3.0-litre 6-cylinder engine in the RR is supremely quiet when used and performance is more than adequate but this is a luxury car first and foremost so spirited driving is perhaps not the number one priority for most owners. You can select save for longer trips to maintain charge, or Hybrid for general driving. Here the car does a good job of swapping in-between electric and petrol power.

Overall this RR is incredibly quiet and comfortable when travelling long distances and the car’s computers keep the not inconsiderable weight, 2770kg, remarkably controlled when driving quickly through the use of adaptive dampers which regularly monitor body and steering movements. The end result is this car is wonderfully comfortable with quite astonishing body control.

Should you need to take the car off-road the are a number of modes to select: Dynamic, Eco, Comfort, Grass, Gravel, Snow, Mud, Ruts, Sand, Rock Crawl and Wade. You can also increase the air suspension height from 209mm to 284mm and with the car set up in this way the RR can wade through 900mm of water, a lot! Additionally the RR has 4 wheel drive unsurprisingly but also 4 wheel steering, which helps to make the very large vehicle more manoeuvrable which is just as well because this is a very large car and can feel it in tight conditions.

All in all a really wonderful luxury car that has all the comforts needed to travel in serenity and style whilst allowing you to venture off road when the desire takes you. I cannot recommend it more!!
