A crucial part of our Magnetized Target Fusion technology is the compression system. One of our resident experts in Compression Engineering, Kristin Bell, talks about the makeup of our latest testbed, the Cylindrical Water Compressor (CWC). The CWC consists of pistons that surround a rotating internal cavity filled with water. The rotating chamber forms a cylindrical vortex in the water, and the pistons are synchronized to push this vortex inward, collapsing it into a spherical cavity.
