The so called "space race" at the start of the Cold War was a defining moment of modern history. In an incredibly short space of time the US and USSR achieved the unthinkable and started to conquer space. This was no easy task, to achieve their goal and to prove that their ideology was superior, huge amounts of money was spent to constantly invent and upgrade technology to cope with the rapid advancements of man.
