In September of 2022, the islands were rocked by Hurricane Ian with 160 mph winds and a surging 13' of gulf water. It was the mostly costly hurricane in Florida's history and the 3rd in US history.

We chose to visit in January 2024, not sure what to expect after looking at news reports and social media. What we found was sobering but also encouraging. If you want more information, I would recommend my favorite source: @TheSanibelCaptivaGuide   / @thesanibelcaptivaguide

If you want to enjoy these same rides from 2022, prior to the Hurricane, but without the mindless chatter, you can see them here:    • Sanibel Bike Adventures

I ride a Trek Checkpoint ALR5 normally but this trip was all about a beach cruiser that felt like it survived the Hurricane also. This content was filmed on a GoPro 11 Black (4K/24fps, Linear mode) and an iPhone 13 Max Pro and edited in Final Cut Pro X.
