Although it’s easy to feel powerless, Sophia Young shares how she overcame adversity, found her voice at a young age, and successfully advocated for fare-free transit for 36,000 youths in the city of Regina, Canada, at the age of 15.

Her TEDx talk teaches you the secrets of unlocking your inner strength, setting audacious goals, and embracing confidence to create positive change in your life and your community at large. Sophia Young is a social activist who consistently advocates for the rights of youths. In 2019, she addressed the Regina City Council on the transportation barriers the youths face. This led to her involvement in the city’s Energy and Sustainability Framework, in which she advocated for fare-free transit for youths, which benefitted 36,000 children. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
